Jonathan Pacheco:
I like the idea of Thomas’s world being flipped upside down. First he finds out he’s married (at least in this universe). I wanted to pile something else on him to make him freak out.
Who’s blood was that? Was the body in the tub? Why is Ann cleaning in such a rush? Who’s coming over? But most important of all, why was Thomas taking a catnap when there might be a dead body in his bathroom?

The blood was, fortunately, not real (though Whitney brought up the idea of buying some raw meat and spreading real blood. Being a vegetarian, I didn’t jump at the idea). Cranberry juice was our first choice but stained too much, so we went with good ol’ strawberry ice cream syrup (as is obvious in some shots). Cleaned up well, but left us all sticky.

I had originally planned to make the shots slower and longer, but in order to pull off what I wanted, it had to be chopped up a little. Plus I wanted a cheesy zoom or two as well. My first thought was to have Thomas run out to his car or to a parking lot, but we had just come from that in previous chapters, so for the time being I ran him in the opposite direction, into a field (you gotta love that dry, yellow Texas grass), that way the next chapters have the choice of whether or not to put him back in a car, keep him on foot, or throw him into another building.

I hope the chapters that follow will explore the situations I’ve brought up while still keeping the focus of the entire story.

And yes, Heaven Morty is not a runner, but being a pinch-hitter along with Whitney, I’m not complaining.
