Want to make a chapter?

Then let us know today! We use the first come, first served principle.

At this page, we’ll tell you what you need to know to contribute with a chapter to the 28 chapters project.

First off, requirements. You will obviously need a video camera (DV or better quality) to shoot your chapter. A chapter shot with a non-DV cam (for example a digital compact camera or a webcam) will not be accepted, but any DV camera will do: it’s just to ensure minimum quality.

Secondly, you need actors. Make sure that you have friends available that can play the roles you need. They don’t need to be good or anything, but you most definitively will need some people to help you.

Thirdly, you need to be able to set aside time to work on the chapter when you get the message that you’re next. We have a very strict time schedule to ensure that the project moves forward and to decrease the waiting time for others. As soon as the chapter before you is finished, we’ll call you, and then you have two weeks to make the chapter. After one week, you need to have a script finished, and we’ll call you again to make sure that you’re on time. If you fail to either have a script finished after 1 week or have a chapter ready after 2, your chapter will be handed over to the next one interested.
Therefore, it’s also important that you tell your friends which will be involved in the chapter about the project, so you’re ready when it becomes your turn.

When you’re the next one in line to make a chapter, we will hand over the script and the actual chapter as they are delivered to us from the one who’s making the chapter, so that you can start developing the story for your chapter as soon as possible. And most important, helps you make your chapter the very next part of the movie, and not just a clip on its own.

When you’re writing your script, it’s very important that you’ve read and completely understand the chapter rules. You absolutely need to follow the rules 100%, that’s what they’re there for. We’ve really attempted to make the rules so that they won’t limit your creativity, but still keep the movie in somewhat shape.
It’s also very important that you’ve seen the whole movie so far (preferably several times). While you can take the story anywhere you want in your chapter, it’s important that you know what has happened earlier so you can adapt to it.

Finally, when you’ve actually created your chapter, you need an decent internet connection which you can use to upload your file in DV quality format – between 100 and 150mb depending on the length of your chapter. You will get information on how and where to upload it when you’re assigned to a chapter.

In addition, you need to license your chapter under a Creative Commons Attribution 2.5 license (read the entire page) and send a confirmation to us that it is licensed by email. You also need to guarantee to us that your chapter contains no copyrighted material.

This all seems so serious, but it’s really about the fun so make sure you have fun when you make your chapter! Got a question? Ask it in the forum! (we don’t bite).
